On June 18, 2020, the SOO held the "2021 Master and Doctoral Online Student Recruitment Seminar". Dean Zhou Meng, Vice dean Tian Bingxue, assistant dean Zhu Benhua, as well as teachers from various disciplines participated in the seminar.

At the beginning of the seminar, students and parents watched the videos of Graduate education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and School of Oceanography.

Dean Zhou Meng gave a detailed speech from the aspects of introduction to oceanography, why he studied ocean science and basic information about SOO. Teacher representatives including Li Ji from Biological Oceanography, Cui Xingqian from Geological Oceanography, Zhang Zhaoru from Physical Oceanography, Hu Huanting from Chemical Oceanography, Zeng Zheng from Marine Technology introduced SOO from different perspectives.

At the Q&A time, teachers answered the students' questions about future research directions, examination requirements and employment prospects, etc.
