From May 13 to 15, 2023, the School of Oceanography of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Polar Research Institute of China and the Second Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources jointly hosted the 5th Shanghai Ocean Conference. Nearly 200 experts and scholars from more than 30 universities and scientific research institutions participated in the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Academician Chen Dake.

On behalf of the organizers, Academician Su Jilan, chairman of the conference, expressed a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the experts and scholars who participated in the meeting.

On behalf of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Vice President Zhu Xinyuan expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference and extended a sincere welcome to the participation of all experts and scholars.

Deputy Director of the Polar Research Institute of China Zhang Beichen delivered a speech.

Dean Zhou Meng introduced School of Oceanography of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The 5th Shanghai Ocean Conference ended successfully at noon on May 15.
